Pizza.

This is a blog about learning something new each day, and what better than to start with this delicious, heaven on Earth dish, Pizza. My first memory of eating pizza was probably when I was 6 or younger and I haven’t stopped loving it since, safe to say it is perfection on a plate.

And I’m sure it must’ve started somewhere, so here goes.

Rumours vary from Rome to Greece, however flatbread is common throughout the world.

First off, picture this, sitting in Naples with a slice of pizza, the dripping cheese and the soothing sauce, chewing through the burnt and sweet bits. Now imagine the people laughing and criticizing this atrocious dish, in today’s world would be totally unimaginable.

Pizza did not gain popularity till the year Queen Margherita and King Umberto came to rule. They were tired of the fancy French cuisine, and wanted something uncommon, hence when the Queen tasted the pizza, which had the three colours of the Italian flag, I’m surprised she didn’t declare it the national dish.

The variations of pizza sparked a revolution after the introduction of tomato or mozzarella, so much so that now there’s egg and chocolate and even brinjals.

It was even delivered to the ISS.

It truly is a slice of heaven.
